šŸ“š Reading, learning and school holidays

Camden Council Library Children’s Services

Children from birth to 12 years can take part in council-run activities at Camden, Narellan and Oran Park Libraries. The program includes Storytime, Babies into Books, school holiday activities, the Premier’s Reading Challenge and parenting workshops. Libraries also welcome arranged visits from schools, preschools and playgroups, and provide dedicated children’s spaces for reading and spending time together. For children’s services information, contact Camden Libraries on (02) 4653 3100.

Camden Libraries Homework Help

Primary school students in Years 3–6 can get free, tutor-led help with homework and assignments at Oran Park Library. Sessions are scheduled on Thursdays from 4–6 pm during school terms. Families should confirm the current term dates before heading in, particularly around school holidays.

šŸ›¹ Outdoor activity and youth connection

Julia Reserve Youth Precinct

Located on Peter Brock Drive in Oran Park, this Camden Council precinct gives young people several ways to move, practise skills and spend time outdoors. Facilities include a skate park, basketball court, ping-pong tables, kickabout space and playground, with shelters and seating available for breaks or supervising family members. The parkour equipment is temporarily closed for safety inspections and upgrades, while the other listed areas remain open.

Youth Solutions

Serving Camden as part of the wider Macarthur region, Youth Solutions works with young people aged 12–25 through drug, alcohol and wellbeing education, prevention programs, health promotion and community outreach. Young people can also access information, connection and referral support. Those aged 16–25 who have a connection to Macarthur may be interested in the volunteer Youth Advisory Group, which provides an opportunity for young people to contribute their perspectives.

🌈 Developmental and disability support

This Camden paediatric allied-health provider supports children from birth to 16 years, including children with disability or developmental delay. Maternal antenatal supports are available as part of the provider’s broader family-focused work.

Ability Action Australia – Camden

Children and families can access paediatric and early-intervention support through this NDIS provider’s Camden team. Listed services include occupational therapy, speech pathology, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, positive behaviour support and Early Childhood Approach key-worker support. Psychology is available by telehealth. Depending on the service arranged, support may be delivered in the clinic, at home or in community settings.

ā¤ Youth health and wellbeing

headspace Campbelltown

Young people aged 12–25 from the Macarthur area can seek free information, support and services at this nearby Campbelltown centre, which is operated by One Door Mental Health. Support areas include mental health, general health, alcohol and other drugs, employment and study. Families and friends can also access support. Young people may contact the centre directly to ask how to get started; some appointments, including certain GP, dietitian and psychology services, may require a Medicare card or a relevant care plan.

šŸ“Œ Practical checks before you go

  • Check age and year-level requirements: activities range from baby programs to services for people aged 25, and Homework Help is specifically for Years 3–6.
  • Confirm bookings and timing: contact the provider before attending a workshop, holiday program, library session, therapy appointment or term-based activity.
  • Ask about access: discuss mobility, communication, sensory or other accessibility needs directly with the venue or service so suitable arrangements can be considered.
  • Clarify costs and funding: check whether fees, Medicare requirements, care plans or NDIS funding conditions apply to the particular appointment or service you need.
  • Plan for supervision: confirm whether an adult needs to remain with a child or young person, particularly at library activities and outdoor recreation spaces.
